SPEECH THERAPY

Speech Therapy supports children in developing the communication skills they need to connect with the world around them — whether that means speaking their first words, building vocabulary, improving speech clarity, or learning to use alternative communication tools. Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) assess both expressive communication (the ability to express thoughts and needs) and receptive communication (the ability to understand language), then build a treatment plan tailored to the child’s specific communication profile.

At BFC, Speech Therapy is delivered as part of a coordinated Group Practice, meaning your child’s speech goals are shared with the ABA and Occupational Therapy teams to ensure consistent reinforcement across every session and setting. Whether a child is working on first words, conversational skills, social communication, or Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), our SLPs build a plan around the child’s individual communication needs and family goals.

Benefits of Speech Therapy

  • Builds functional communication skills for expressing needs, wants, and ideas
  • Improves speech clarity, making a child easier to understand by family, peers, and teachers
  • Strengthens understanding of language, including following directions and answering questions
  • Develop social communication skills like conversation, turn-taking, and understanding social cues
  • Supports nonverbal or minimally verbal children through tools like AAC devices and picture-based systems
  • Reduces frustration by giving children effective ways to express themselves

How BFC Excels in Speech Therapy

BFC’s licensed Speech-Language Pathologists bring focused expertise in both spoken language development and alternative communication methods, including AAC. Because Speech Therapy operates within our Group Practice, your child’s communication goals aren’t addressed in isolation — they’re reinforced throughout ABA and Occupational Therapy sessions as well, creating consistent practice across every part of your child’s care. Our SLPs take time to understand each child’s individual communication profile, ensuring therapy targets are meaningful and aligned with real-life situations at home, school, and in the community.
